The women's soccer team beat Boston U last night on penalty kicks to move on to the championship game against Army on Sunday. They have been the best athletic team at Bucknell over the past 4-5 years. They also had the goalie of the year (Jenna Hall) and mid-fielder of the year (Teresa Deda), along with last season's offensive POY Rylee Donaldson. They won the championship on the road last year as the #4 seed and will try to do the same this year as the #2. They were the only Bucknell team to win a PL championship last year.
It was great to see a huge student turnout for last night's game. They stayed and cheered through 110 minutes of scoreless regulation and OT. When Donaldson hit the winning PK they stormed the field and surrounded the players. The way you build excitement among the student body is to field a winning team.

Interview with Rylee Donaldson, who made the game-winning PK: https://twitter.com/Bucknell_WSOC/status/ 158866129...
One of the more interesting features of the PK shootout was Bison goalie Jenna Hall - who is the best goalie in the team's history - stepping up and drilling a crucial penalty kick - upper right netting. Hall, btw, made 1st team All-PL this year.

AS the parent of some very serious soccer players, I think making a kick in Donaldson's situation may well be the most stressful situation in sports. I really wish soccer would come up with a different way to resolve ties in tournaments.

The Bison ended up one point behind Army during the regular season. The two teams tied a few weeks ago on Emmitt Field.

I was at the earlier Army game. I think we had a slight edge statistically, but it was a very even game.

CBSSN thinks bull riding is more important than the OT of the league championship for women's soccer. Hope that PL reevaluates the contract. Looking for video of the final result

Bison will take on Ohio State at 6 PM Friday in the first round of the NCAA's. If they play as well as they did at Rutgers last year, they might have an outside shot of pulling the upset.

Women play OSU tonight at 6 PM. Coverage on ESPN+. It has been raining heavily in Columbus much of the day, although the rain is supposed to get much lighter by game time. We'll see how good the drainage is at Jesse Owens Field.

Bison were screwed by a bad foul call by the ref with six minutes left that took a probable game-winning goal off the board. Replays made it clear there was no foul.

Comments about that horrendous call from three neutral internet soccer sites:
- Bucknell vs. Ohio State Women’s Soccer. RIGGED???? How can u call that a foul???
- Bucknell absolutely robbed of what should have been the winning goal. Really disappointing stuff.
= never a foul

Bison lost on a goal late in the second OT.
Sad to play them evenly through 106+ minutes and lose due to an atrocious call late in regulation.

Tough loss after playing so well for 97 minutes. The goal they took away from Stuck could have been the winner. Bison played a great game. Definitely held their own against a more talented team.
