I referred to the weak ECAC hockey season a few posts ago. Harvard (6-0) beat two of the ‘better’ programs this weekend in RPI and Union and DROPPED from #13 to #16 in statistical rankings! Probably due to continuing poor performances from Ivy squads Harvard defeated earlier.
Strange games though. Harvard recovered from a 2 goal deficit to beat RPI 3-2 in OT on Friday. On Saturday, Harvard and Union played the chippiest game Ive seem in a long time, including ejections late in the second period. Interestingly, once Union took the physicality to an NHL level and the teams went 4 on 4 for the final minutes the Crimson started buzzing, scoring 2 goals to take a 4-1 lead. Somehow, the coaches must have taken control as these two obviously ticked off squads went back to playing hockey in the third period.
Again, looks like only Harvard and Quinnipiac are contenders this season.
