Penn -5.5. Seems high to me. Streamers... You're a bit of a betting man: What are your thoughts on the spread?

I was also thinking it was a lot of respect.
Have been this big of a favorite against Joes, in the last 40 years?

While I predicted a 5 point spread on the Delaware game thread, 5.5 is actually a little light if you follow Sagaran--Penn is 128th with a rating of 75.68 and St Joe's is 235 with a rating of 68.97, plus Penn is the home team.
Of course, Sagarin does not figure the Big 5 part of things into its ratings. But I think the line is correct....not that I'll be betting on it.

I didn't know St. Joe's was that bad. After the past few games, I worry about "regression to the norm."

The spreads tend to be a little formulaic and based on the ratings. Penn would be something like 4-4.5 on a neutral court. SJU is a different team than last year; more guard-oriented with one big who scores. It's actually a good matchup for Penn if they shoot anything like they have lately.
SJU has 3 big centers, but only Ojike plays much and he's not playing as much as last year when he went something like 20-12 on us. Spinoso can handle him far better this year. Martz needs to have a good defensive game on Klaczek assuming Smith is still on the DL. SJU is also not all that deep, something to watch for late.
It will be interesting to see SD tries to handle Reynolds. He has to have a big night for the Hawks to avoid death this evening just as we will need one from Dingle, but that is always the case unless Charles goes off.

I was just watching ESPN2 and they had "betting lines" with the "Bear" and one of the games he picked was Penn and the points. He said St Joe's is 2-3 and has lost by an average of 17 pts in their losses and Penn is coming off a 4 game win streak and can "shoot the lights out of it".
FWIW.

Well, it looks like it finally forced SD to play Holland (especially with Smith out) and he has responded well.

In a boot.
Terrible last minute of an otherwise good half. But too many turnovers and terrible foul shooting

A very bad final minute of play mars what was otherwise a mostly very solid team effort with many contributors.
Nick is now 6 for 18 on the year from the line.
Oy.

I had to step away, what happened in last minute? I’ll watch replay later (and hopefully watch the full Delaware game later too).
Up 7 at half is a good overall performance for sure especially light a few players. Did MLL ever come back to bench?
Here’s to hoping they can keep it up.
