With exams in the rearview mirror, it looked like ND had coached up the team. Led at Richmond 14-7 early. But then UR went on a 34-11 run. Final part of the half was 17-3 leading to a 41-25 halftime score. Will be interesting to see how the Bison respond in the second half. Richmond was an 11-point favorite.

Just looked closely at Richmond’s roster. The Spiders have 4 graduate players, 3 redshirt freshmen, and star player Burton will be 23 years old in February.
Uneven playing field for sure. Two different sets of rules and policies for 2 schools that view each other as peer schools competing for same type of student-athletes.
Our AD is hopefully bringing these facts (and disparities) to our top level administration. I’ve heard that we are considering an MBA graduate program which would be a nice step in the right direction here!
Richmond was also very experienced with graduate players 22 and 23 years old last year…..

Firing Nathan Davis should have happened long ago. It’s a sad joke it’s taken this long and the AD is complicit in this joke of an OOC schedule.
You all know the program is in the toilet.

Dr K,
Richmond was one of the oldest teams in the country last year when they made their A10 title run (I believe 4 out of 5 starters were 23+). Golden was 24 and Cato (if he was the Canadian kid was 25). Haven't seen anything like it since Texas Tech went to the National Championship game years ago.

You'd expect it from MSU but not Richmond...total joke!
Colgate has absolutely no graduate school but doesn't stop them.

They are very similar in terms of experience, but not in term of results. Boston currently is 6-6 vs D1 opponents and has no good wins. Ranked #242 in the nation. Richmond last year, in contrast, won 24 games and was ranked 85th at the end of the nation.

Wasn't addressing in terms of performance or "experience". Experience is a misnomer. Let's call it what it is, guys that are typically 1-3 years older. Six of one maybe...buy the only way you get more "experience" is playing more years because your older (i.e., through reclassification at the HS level, red shirting, or Covid Exemption to fictional "Grad School" attendance. How many of these guys make their second year of grad school after the Covid eligibility extension ends? Now that would be a good study!

Other than the awful 6-1/2 minutes at the end of the first half, the game was basically even. Small consolation, I know, but shows this team has potential.
As for grad school, Birdsong has mentioned several times the possibility of the three seniors coming back for a 5th year. Let's hope that's a sign Bucknell has finally relented on their current policy. It's inhibiting every sport.

I am a bit surprised at the performance this far (and I know it isn’t an extremely difficult schedule) but I really hope this the AD doesn’t see this season as proof that Davis is the answer moving forward.
