The last time Dartmouth played on New Year's day was in 1949 against Northwestern in Chicago.

We won 52-49.

So what's the problem with our team?

No gentle way to put it--lack of talent.

We can win games if everyone plays well. If even just one thing is off (say, Cornish going 0-8 from downtown), we lose. We're just not good enough to make up the difference elsewhere.

How many more years does McLaughlin have on his contract? Program just does not seem to be getting better. Brian Earl has turned Cornell into a nice squad in the same amount of time. I think Dave works hard and is a good guy but just doesn't seem to be getting the results needed. May be time for a fresh start.

Beats me about the contract. But Dartmouth has a new AD, which never bodes well for a coach of a team that's struggling.

I like McLaughlin, too. But to win, you either have to recruit better than your opponents, or coach up your players better than your opponents. McLaughlin doesn't seem to be doing either.

Dartmouth football is a good example of succeeding by method #2 (this past fall notwithstanding).
