For those who view the Bison losing by only six points to Colgate as a sign for optimism, here is one thing to know. Colgate star PG Braeden Smith, who is by far the league’s top freshman and possibly one of the league’s top five players, hurt his ankle in the first three minutes of the game and did not play after that. That was a huge loss for Colgate but unfortunately the Bison couldn’t take advantage of it. In PL play, Smith usually plays 33+ mpg and rarely comes out of a game before it is decided.

I watched much of the game. Smith is a huge loss for Colgate. If he is out for an extended amount of time that will not be good for them at all. He was in a boot on the sideline. Colgate struggled from the foul line until late. I thought Bucknell looked ok in a couple of stretches but also very flat in several. Edmonds only 3 shots. Again didn’t shoot well from 3. Screen had a good game. Bucknell isn’t going to win until the team decides to play 40 minutes of basketball.

I did not get to watch it but I was a bit impressed they kept it to six points. But then saw they were down by 13 relatively late and then saw Smith barely played. I continue to hate that they do nothing to get Elvin some clean looks. As a team it seems they count on three pointers and they have not been good at it. According to stats in the Loyola pregame notes, Bucknell has been at the top of the league in several defensive categories yet they continue to lose. Davis always harped on poor defense when they lost in the past when really poor offense was also to blame. Bottom line you have to make shots and Bucknell is challenged in that area.

Today is a bittersweet day: the 20th anniversary of the first game ever played at Sojka pavilion. So many great games and great seasons. Only to see the program ruined by an incompetent coach. Hopefully things will get better, although it has been allowed to go so far it will likely take years.

With the team’s 0–6 start to start league play, that is the second worst start in Bucknell basketball history. And the only worse one was against far better competition, so qualitatively this is definitely the worst league start ever.

Congratulations ND! Maybe they should put up a banner in Soika commemorating this.

I’d love to respond but I don’t care anymore and won’t post. We all know the Bison could go on a run and people will could get apologetic but this is a broken program.

Nathan Davis you are POS division one coach. You may be a fantastic human being but you need to resign.

Sounds like a future transfer portal entrant that is going to go get some nice NIL money either this offseason or next.
