Separately, if anyone needs a ticket to the ILT, let me know. My plans changed a bit abruptly and now I can't go.

Even the august KenPom has been snookered by the Ed Cooley comments. I have no earthly idea why everyone has decided to agitate for an 8-team Ivy tournament this year. For one, I don't know why "the regular season should have meaning" is a controversial opinion. For another, the Ancient Eight isn't the only league that leaves teams out of its postseason tourney (I know the MAC and America East also do, others probably do too).

It would be possible to give the regular season meaning by giving home court advantage.

It is possible to have the MBB and WBB tourneys in the same location, which is a good thing.

But you can’t do both.

It’s just not fair!!! Is growing noise on this front the result of an under the radar campaign by our poor colleagues in Cambridge who have failed to make the thingy after the 14-game tournament two years in a row?

Certainly if the IL is going to continue to refuse to pay for a neutral site, it can't just let every team in. Letting the 8 seed host the ILT would be egregious.

there is also the practical problem that not all of the venues
could accommodate the fans from eight schools.
Maybe the first round is at the site of the higher seed
the weekend before, and the current format follows?
But that would require compressing the regular season,
maybe returning to the old back-to-back format.

I agree, but I'm not sure the League does. For heaven's sake, Dartmouth is scheduled to host the 2025-26 ILT. Hosting even four teams in a tiny gym in a town that's extremely difficult to get to with only two hotels would be just fantastic, I'm sure.

Has the League given a clear explanation for why they moved the 2024 tournament from the Pizz in Providence to Levien in NYC? Could it have to do with the realization of exactly the concerns that are expressed above?

Providence has plenty of hotels and the Pizz has as much seating as Harvard.

I agree it is a small gym and there are not many hotel options,
but Hanover may be my favorite Ivy town to visit. The
Hanover Inn is great, and the area is beautiful.

Throw in a March blizzard for extra chaos.

Gonna be great in a few years when one school which expects to get both men’s and women’s teams in pre-books that whole place for its party of players, coaches, families, and big donors, while everyone else has to commute from Manchester.

And there's always the threat of a March snowstorm in Hanover to enhance the Madness.

I've been to every Ivy gym and the Pizz is by far the worst to watch a game in. Lines of sight are atrocious. Leede might be small but at least you can watch the game.

Google Lebanon NH hotels and you'll find there's actually plenty of hotel rooms, just not in Hanover itself.

I never understood why they built it when they had a 3000 seat arena in Marvel Gym. And I certainly don't understand why Harvard raised money for a 4500 seat arena and then didn't build it.

If I understand correctly, women were headed to 2bidIvy, until tonight! Announcers citing leading prognosticators in that Columbia & Princeton would both make the Dance - if they both made the championship. Ironically, our soirée just dashed that opportunity as Harvard upsets the Lions in OT. Our tournament scheme just backfired.

I hope this does not happen, Burt if Harvard wins today, Ivy
may get two bids.
