No more will we see St Francis face off against St Francis. One of the oldest athletic programs there is --but something we probably will see happening more often.

Yes, DI athletics operating more and more like big business, where mergers and acquisitions are the rule, consolidation is the norm, and the mom and pop stores are going out of business.

I used to live across the street from the Brooklyn Heights campus that had their gym. They closed that campus last year entirely. The actually had 21 remaining D-1 programs which surprised me. Small liberal arts colleges are becoming an endangered species at this point unless they have very hefty endowments. It will be interesting to see how the local schools here adapt. St. Joes got ahead of things by gobbling up two health science trade schools. Not sure if LaSalle remains viable without some form of consolidation.
