I guess we already anticipated this, but per the D1 Docket, Bucknell will host NJIT, date TBA.
The Highlanders, whom we beat 79-63 in Newark this last season, are looking for a new coach after the resignation of Brian Kennedy.

Brian Kennedy resigned from NJIT the same way that Nathan Davis did from Bucknell. His record this year, which was his 7th year at the helm, was 7-23. Over his last four years combined, NJIT has gone 34-74. They had extremely weak schedules the last two years - which makes things even worse.

Without doing any research, I think these are the return games on the schedule for 2023-24:
Niagara (A)
St. Peter's (H)
Marist (A)
NJIT (H)
Merrimack (A)
La Salle ? (Have played six straight years, don't know the terms of the most recent contract)
I assume there will be a couple buy games with majors and they have to find at least two teams to start series in Sojka. I would also like to see a new series with Mt. St. Mary's, who is the second closest D1 program to Sojka. Perhaps the fact that Brianna Griffin (formerly Gauthier) played varsity basketball and lacrosse at MSM and also coached hoops there might lend a little impetus to starting a series. MSM having moved up to the higher profile MAAC might make them more attractive as an opponent as well. Also the fact that they have a good fan base can't hurt.
DoCtoR62, any thoughts on the feasibility of a BU-MSM series now that ND and Jamion Christian have both departed?

The causes were clearly the same, but Kennedy and/or NJIT arranged to portray it as Kennedy's action.

True, but a number of news sources used the word “fired” when reporting on Kennedy’s departure. As for ND, Bucknell didn’t use the word “fired” either:
“ Bucknell director of athletics & recreation Jermaine Truax announced on Thursday that Nathan Davis will be pursuing other opportunities after eight seasons as head coach of the men's basketball program.”
It all depends on what euphemism you prefer.

I didn't suggest or imply they did.

Bison will participate in a 4-team official multi-team event sponsored by Duke. The four participating teams - Duke, Bucknell, La Salle, and Southern Indiana - will each play three games on campus sites. Duke, no surprise, will host three games and La Salle will host two. No word on who hosts the Bucknell-Southern Indiana game, but hopefully that one is in Sojka.
From a Bison Road Warrior perspective, it shouldn't be too hard to get tickets to see the Bison in Cameron.

Last time, the ticket-buying situation benefitted from the game being over Duke's winter break, and the student sections were up for sale. We'll see when this game is.
Griff's already making good on his commitment to give the players memorable experiences and play at memorable venues.

Yes, memorable is the right word. It’s akin to a mediocre high school gym, only bigger. Gola Arena unbelievably is only 25 years old. Most fans of visiting teams think it was built 50+ years ago based on what it looks like. Tom Gola, who was a really good player, deserved better.

When I go there, I'm always hoping nothing memorable happens between the car and the gym.

Wow, I'd have never guessed the building is that relatively new. I've errantly referred to it in game-hyping conversations as "historic Tom Gola Arena."

Went to Gola for a game about 10 years ago. Above descriptions are very on point. Important to know how to get in and out of that part of town safely, particularly at night. It ain't Lewisburg.

I really miss that wall-mounted water fountain that used to be at one end.

Growing up outside Phila, I know this area. Gives me hope for the future of Bison basketball. If LaSalle can attract solid players, certainly we can.

Gola is to be renovated, LaSalle will play their home games in the Palestra next year. Another historic venue for the players to experience.

And you also hope that your car is still there with all 4 tires on. I’ve been to LaSalle many times over the years. No incidents but lots of worries.

I've never had a problem at Gola. Just park in the lot next to the stadium. No issues at all. I've been there several times.
Would I walk a block off of campus . . . . no.

The schedule has been released for this MTE. Bucknell will indeed be hosting Southern Indiana, on November 20. They will also play at LaSalle on November 14 and then at Duke on Friday, November 17

Contrary to earlier discussion, Bucknell’s Duke-event article has us playing La Salle at historic Tom Gola Arena rather than the Palestra.
