“I think I have restructured my relationship with basketball,” Towns told Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch. “It is much healthier now. I’m not saying I put my entire identity into basketball, but man, it was hard, because that’s kind of the only professional aspiration I’ve had. Everything else was kind of subsidiary to that. Now, I think I’ve released myself from the need to play at whatever level.”

Difference being that Towns was the best player in the Ivy League, who transferred to a Big 10 school in hopes of making the NBA. The crashing of hopes and ambitions had to be greater---he kept at it for 8 years!

Seth was quietly and unselfishly the best player on the floor. In his sophomore season he shot 49.3% on 3’s in conference play. He shot over 85% on FT’s. Watch Harvard’s highlights at Kentucky. He was amazing - and smooth.
He would have been worth waiting for.

Harvard has had just terrible luck with superstar recruits since their run of championships under Amaker ended in '15. That freshman class in '16 of Aiken, Towns, Bassey, Lewis, Juzang and Baker never won a championship, which is stunning based on the sheer talent in that one class.

Agree, although I don't recall a chemistry between Seth and Bryce. I believe I actually wondered whether it made sense to try and keep them from being on the floor together as much as possible.
Bassey, Lewis, Juzang and Baker didn't need to have the ball or be high usage, but Bryce certainly did and Seth to a lesser, but significant extent. Not certain it ever would have added up to what it could have.

How much time did Towns and Aiken actually play together. One or the other was always injured. But the talent level for an Ivy team was just unbelievable.

Unfortunately I did not get to see Towns play often. But I saw enough of him against the Tigers to know that you had to contain him to beat the Crimson. Very hard to do. Sad to see a career diminished by injury and misfortune. Have a great time at Howard.

Having seen him play this year, he still has tremendous basketball talent, but the legs are gone. I can't see him getting a good run in Europe, but wish him the best in trying.

He wears a substantial leg brace and has also survived what I believe was back surgery.
He has another year of eligibility but articles suggest he’s unlikely to use it.

I think because he played for Ohio State in the Covid year ('20-'21), he is eligible for an extra year. He played in '16-'18 for Harvard (2 years), the Covid year with Ohio State and this year for Howard.

Next year would be his 9th year around college hoop, although he has only played in 4 seasons.
They should just let he and Jelani play as long as they want. They earned it.

Just saw a segment on SportsCenter Los Angeles about Howard going dancing that focused on Towns. (Anchor Stan Verret is a proud Bison grad.) Towns looked really good in the highlights. Apparently his younger teammates call him “Unc.”
