First game against Binghampton:

"During the second half of NU’s exhibition game, Langborg caught fire offensively, extending his points output to 13.

With the ‘Cats in dire need of a second offensive option to Boo Buie — especially given Barnhizer’s streaky shooting clip — the graduate student guard once again rose to the occasion, knocking down a go-ahead score to put NU back in the driver’s seat.

Despite struggling to get the lid off the basket from downtown, Langborg’s midrange consistency handed the ‘Cats a much-needed spark, fueling the team’s second-half turnaround."

Saw some of NU’s tough win over Dayton last night after the Hofstra game. Langborg had a game high 19 points, played a game high 39 minutes, and looked in control throughout. Great to see him doing so well there. The announcers described his situation accurately as a “graduate student player,” but at least once he was described as a “transfer” from Princeton, which pains me to hear. NU has a nice team and it will be really interesting to see how Ryan and the team do in the Big Ten.

Looks like he picked up right where he left off. This was an absolute beauty of a bucket:

Langborg's athleticism was underrated, perhaps underutilized, until the Sweet 16 run. He's very quick and creative off the dribble.

Langborg just went 4-5 from three in NU’s upset of Purdue.

Ryan Langborg scored 20 points when Northwestern beat #1 ranked Purdue last Friday. Has any Princeton basketball player ever played (or played and scored 20) in a game where his team beat the #1 ranked team in the country? How about other Ivy players who graduated and played elsewhere or who just transferred?

Has a Princeton team ever beaten the #1 ranked team (I know they lost by 1 at UCLA in the 69-70 season). Has any Ivy team beaten the #1 ranked team in the country?

Since last March Ryan has played and helped his team win against a #2 and #7 seed in the NCAA tournament and against the top-rated team in the country. That's a pretty nice stretch!

I don't recall Princeton ever beating a #1 ranked team. Along with UCLA, they came painstakingly close vs Michigan in the '64-'65 season at MSG. Tigers lead by about 12 with a little over 4 minutes to go when Bradley fouled out. The team then collapsed and Cazzie Russell hit a buzzer beater to win the game. Princeton did win against a #2 ranked team, winning at North Carolina in the '67 season.

As for the rest of the league, not sure. Our Penn friends may have to remind us about the early 70s, although I don't think they ever beat UCLA who was #1 forever back then.

When Bradley fouled out the MSG crowd gave him a very lengthy standing O, mire than 5 minute's

Princeton destroyed Digger Phelps and Notre Dame in 1977 at a sold out Jadwin in a game I remember vividly (I was 12). Notre Dame was ranked #2 in one of the polls before dropping.

If I recall correctly (my father and I were at the game), right after Bradley fouled out (the MSG announcer said, “Bill Bradley, one of the greatest basketball players to play in Madison Square Garden, scored 41 points”. The place went bananas for what was reported as five minutes. Then, Princeton scored another basket increasing their lead to 14 before Michigan went to work and the roof fell in.

Desmond Cambridge had 19 and a game-winner from halfcourt against Arizona last year, but they were only #7 at the time

Even with all the big-time transfers in recent years I only found one game in which an Ivy grad played against a #1 team, never mind won

PRINCETON, N. J., Dec. 6— Andy Rimol, a 6 foot 10 inch sophomore center, scored 23 points and Ted Manekas added 21 tonight as Princeton upset second ranked North Carolina, tonight, 89-73.

In Jadwin. Best game I ever attended there. Carolina led by Macadoo and Jones.
