WHEW. Disappointed to see a blowout turn into a nailbiter, but hey, it's still a road win against a solid team.
Not to make excuses, but the long time off between D-I games may explain the flagging energy in the final 8 minutes. This is the first time I can recall us collapsing like this. And they still won.
Bring on conference play! Gonna be a dogfight.

Eleven layups conceded in the second half, then Drumgool got hot from three. But good three-point offense and timely rebounding win the day for a decent road win. That sort of second half won’t cut it in many Ivy games, though..

Yeah, giving up 55 points in the second half was ugly after a very disciplined effort in the first half. But they hung on when the home team had the crowd and momentum behind them.
Fun stat: in a 2-point game, Dalen Davis was +18 in 13 minutes while scoring just 2 points!

This was ugly for sure, but I'm also impressed that we've been in 4 nailbiter finishes this season (Duquesne, Furman, St. Joe's, Delaware) and pulled out 3 wins. And the 1 loss involved Pierce being fouled out.
That's the kind of grit I like to see. It's what good teams do.
Also, you have to get a bit mathematical and realize that 16pt leads against good teams are flukey. Winning by 2 pts on the road against a Delaware team that beat us last year is about what you'd expect. Hence Vegas predicting a 3pt win before the tip.

I love Tiger 81’s stat about Davis.
I like it when a team plays to gain ground even when they’re ahead (until the point where clock-killing is a dominant concern). You’re up 16 at the half, how about trying to go on a run at the beginning of the second half? Always be closing, as the sales guys used to say. That means getting stops.
Of course that’s tough to do on the road. But those teams in the top 75 of the KenPom rankings on D probably pull it off more frequently.

This is huge. Princeton's 6-1 road record is the best in D-I. It's amazing how much worse "elite" teams get when playing true road games.
KenPom doesn't adjust for home/road/neutral games, which seems crazy to me. That's another reason I follow NET rankings more closely.
