Columbia is a classic trap game.
Let's hope everyone is healthy
for the final back-to-back. Let's
get the 1 seed and go to NY
on a roll!

Allocco missed the second half after reportedly getting banged up taking a charge. Hopefully precautionary with a big game tomorrow (although that's not usually the MO) - huge deal if not.

Not sure what happened. It looked to me like he hurt his back again based on how he was walking. My wife thought she saw him blinking his eyes like he was hit in the head.

I suspect back spasms since he's been dealing with lower back pain for a while.

He stayed in (and played well) for the rest of the 1st half and seemed to be lobbying to return in the 2nd half. So I hope that means he was indeed resting as a precaution for tomorrow.

On the bright side, Dalen Davis really stepped up again. He could be a huge weapon down the stretch. Teams are doubling Lee constantly and we need someone else to step up - tonight it was Peters and Davis.

I went back to look at the foul. Not your ordinary charge. Columbia player put his head down and charged to the basket and Allocco took a hit to the midsection and wound up folded up on the ground. Finished the half though - could have stiffened up at halftime or in concussion protocol? He was seen on watching from the track and in a huddle once but mostly not on the bench.

The defense struggled until Columbia hit 26 (way too early in the first half). Then the ball pressure picked up noticeably and until pretty late in the second half stayed strong. Good night for Peters and Davis to go off offensively with Allocco out for the second half. Hope he’s okay to give at least 90% against the coming waves of Cornell players.

From the Trentonian on Allocco:

The big question now for that game is Allocco’s availability. The senior guard hit the floor hard when he stepped in front of Columbia’s Zavian McLean to take a charge at the end of the first half. He came out with the team for the second half, but then sat on the bench as Davis started in his place. Allocco then left the bench and did not return for the remainder of the game.

“We don’t really know what is going on,” coach Mitch Henderson said. “With Mush you always sort of know and then when something is a little off you’re like ‘OK something is off.’ We’ll figure it out tomorrow.”

“When you think about his energy, I’ve never seen someone be able to worry about himself, but also know every single thing about the scout, every single tendency of the other teams players,” guard Blake Peters said. “It was tough not having him out there, but I know we got some great players on this team and we came through. Tomorrow we’ll be just fine.”

I watched the foul several times before I appreciated how hard his head snapped back and hit the floor as he fell, so I suspect concussion more than back injury, which worries me regarding his availability to play today.

I watched the replay of the game and it was pretty brutal. McLean charged into him hard and pushed off. Mush landed hard and then his head hit the floor, after which he immediately grabbed the back of his head. He looked pretty shaken after the play but then came back into the game and looked fine. We'll find out tonight...

I can't imagine Mush sitting out unless he has no choice (e.g. concussion protocol). But if he's out, then Dalen Davis will have to keep playing like he did last night. He's saved us in back-to-back games.

Looks like tonight's game will be another sell out. Hope the students come out like they did for Yale.
