My question is how much the Columbia Men's Team will benefit from the current activity in the Transfer Portal if key players leave every school in the Ivy League except Columbia?

We will be more competitive.

Yes, strikingly similar wording to the title of the 1968 movie starring Jerry Lewis--it does seem likely that the Columbia Men's Basketball team will benefit greatly if key players transfer out of our opponents' schools, but not Columbia. So Lucky Jim wins again! Ironic isn't it?

I see that Princeton guard Ryan Duncan is transferring after his freshman year. Anybody know why?

Don't know if there are any personal reasons, but he wasn't in the rotation this season (only played garbage time) and probably won't be next season either. Lee, Davis, Peters and Hicke are ahead of him and incoming freshman Jack Stanton may get time too.

I assume Duncan wants to find a team where he can actually play real minutes.

What about the role of agents here in recruiting players with blandishments of untold NIL payments? Is there an underground unholy alliance between power conference coaches and agents to move promising talent out of mid-majors?

There's certainly scouting and poaching. Don't know that agents are involved--but there is an entire network of boosters and AAU affiliated coaches that get paid by the major programs. If you're a good mid-major player, someone will contact you.

I noticed on Instagram that Dalen Davis has hired an NIL firm (Axe Sports Group). That is to say, these NIL/sports marketing firms are definitely scouting talent around the clock.

While Davis has star talent and is poised for a huge season this coming year, I'm surprised that outside firms have already (and smartly) identified an Ivy freshman who came off the bench.
