Yale gets their first road test of the season in the Windy City today. KenPom is not particularly sanguine about the Flames, but I'm not sure how much we know about them. This is a Portal Team through and through, and we don't really have any idea how all the new pieces fit together. Should be a good game to pick up some experience before Purdue on Monday.

turned the game on at half. that was a mistake.
we looked awful. lots of guys playing and no rhythm.
got beat up on boards and had us on skates.
hope they arent terrible. thats a bad look.

i must be a bad jinx. was like a 15-0 run to start the half which is a little tough. call a to JJ!
we cldnt stay in front of their guards and got owned on the boards.
our offense got some open looks but honestly very few easy ones when i watched.
we looked young and on the road. tough combo.
looked at their roster. iggy is right. all transfers and from decent programs so maybe their decent+.
the bad news, purdue. the good news i cant watch for a while due travel. haha

bez and gharram combined for 12 tos. bez is avg'g 6 tos/g. the good news both those guys are being aggressive looking for offense.
but obv that wont cut it so a balance will need to be found. and seniors which is more disturbing. i said we looked young but mistakes are from the seniors.
we also need more out of samson. they spread the floor. but he has to get boards and finish dunks. he can.

I think it's a young team thing, yes, but also an effect of everyone's new roles. You can't lose three starters without everyone needing to figure out what the new equilibrium looks like. I suspect that the team will get that figured out eventually, but it may take some time (think the 2021-22 year, where Yale had an abysmal noncon before turning it all the way around in conference play and making the tournament).
