The conference wants it both ways. They want to remain D1, but don't want to do what's necessary to be successful at that level. I totally get that the presidents don't want to participate in direct payments such as revenue sharing, athletic scholarships and NIL compensation. It makes me a bit sad, but understand the rationale--college athletics has become even more of a cesspool than it already was, and they don't want any part of that. However, if that's the decision, then it's time to acknowledge reality and get out of D1. It's already starting to get embarrassing, and it's only going to get worse.

I believe the thinking is that Division 1 will rupture in basketball as it has in football and the Ivies can then participate in Division 1 of actual college student athletes. I don't think they are at the stage where they believe all 352 Division 1 basketball institutions are going to be professional once that break happens.

Sure, but the upward pressure on talent will render those schools who choose not to get on board with the new realities into a level I think most IL fans will find alarming - think America East/Patriot neighborhood.

Another post predicting that the Ivy is gong to D-III?
Anyone want to take a guess as to what my two-word response will be?
I'll spot you one of the two words: "Rule."
