Even for a kid who doesn't "need" the money, just having a coaching staff and NIL collective show that much interest in you (quantified in dollars) might signal belief in you and commitment from them. All these guys are salesmen, and the pitch is more credible when backed by $$.

Arguable which is worth more. An Ivy degree and student loans (even if Brown didn't need it), or a scholarship and enough money to start your own business. It all depends what you do in either scenario.
