{My apologies if this has been posted before but I just noticed this item and can't recall seeing it before.}

Coach of D2 Wilmington College of Delaware for the past year and a half has been Kevin Welch, who was briefly a Bison backup center although he never lettered.

The article announcing his mid-year hiring: http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/mbkb/2004/news/2005211welch

His Wilmington bio (very short): . http://www.wilmcoll.edu/mbasketball/coach_welch_ke.html

His Bison bio: . http://bucknellbison.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/welch_kevin00.html

Welch's starting point guard and captain this past season was former Bison point guard Chris Rodgers, who, as many know, played three years for the Bison. He was an MBA student at Wilmington this past year. Apparently D2 rules do not limit how many years you have to get in your four seasons of play. http://www.wilmcoll.edu/mbasketball/rogers_ch.html Note that they spell his last name incorrectly but it is the same player. From their season preview:

"The Wildcats look to rebuild after a disappointing 2004-05 season with a good balance of newcomers and returnees. After taking over the program halfway through last year, Coach Welch is optimistic about the new season.
Coach Welch and the coaching staff look to improve with the help of captains Chris Rodgers (Gr./Bucknell University/Fort Washington, PA) and Jason Thomas (Sr./Surratsville HS/Clinton, MD). Rodgers gives the ‘Cats a point guard with extensive experience at the Division I level, as he transferred from Bucknell University of the Patriot League." . http://www.wilmcoll.edu/mbasketball/outlook.html . Looking at the write-ups (there don't appear to be any stats), it appears Rodgers averaged about 15 ppg and led the team in assists.

One of Wilmington's opponents this past year, as has been previously reported, was former Bison power forward Ben Slater, an MBA student at Goldey-Beacom. http://www.gbc.edu/athletics/mensbasketball/mensbasketball-profile.html
