I do not know how accurate this info is, but I was told by a friend that Penn State uses funds earned by camps and speaking engagements by wrestlers to pay for scholarships. $$ is given to wrestlers who then pay their tuition costs. I do not see how this is possible but I was assured it is accurate.

Nelly Cummings from Colgate is in the transfer portal. As a redshirt junior I believe he had 2 years of eligibility left of he wanted it. Will be a big loss for Colgate.
Jamir Harris ended up going to Seton Hall. Harris is already 23 but still apparently has 2 years of eligibility left due to COVID and having sat out a year when he transferred once before. That gives him a shot at playing with his brother who is a HS JR and also committed to Seton Hall.

A good friend just texted me and stated that Deuce Turner has entered the transfer portal. Not too surprising given the end of year and his minutes cut back for whatever reasons.
Also quick Q: can players now transfer within the Patriot League or is that not allowed? If allowed, immediate eligibility?
Crazy times.

I took the post to mean these are schools that contacted Deuce, which doesn’t speak to HIS interest in academics nor if academics are part of his decision-making process. Perhaps he is seeking “better†academic schools but just hasn’t heard from them after a couple of days in the portal? Also, decisions people make for themselves are just that, personal decisions.

He won't be the last transfer to end up at Albany. With Will Brown's contract not being renewed, they currently have nine players in the transfer portal.
