I note that I always feel better when Davis is on the floor. And wow did he hustle on defense tonight.

Gutsy win, but we need to control the defensive
Board.
Any insight on whether Knowling plays tomorrow?

Brown played two tough games against us this season. Their offense was unable to compensate for our ability to effectively shut down Lily. I can forgive them for some frustration after playing so hard but still coming up short. OTOH our guys never gave up even after our very cold night at the 3. GO TIGERS!

I think the St. Joe's game made us way too tentative on defense. Pierce, and to a lesser extent Lee, got in foul trouble and that's why we lost. Since then, we've been extra contact-averse and it's caught up to us in conference play.

Ivy refs are very laissez-faire, always have been. They let players reach-in on drives, bump each other on screens, etc. Yale and Cornell know this, but our guys seem to be in denial. It's a shame because look what happens when we turn up the heat on defense - suffocation.

Another gritty win by the Tigers. Down 10 in the second half, things were looking pretty bleak but our guys really dug deep. Mush, in particular, was just not going to let the team loose. Likewise, the crowd (much smaller that vs Penn or what we’ll likely see tomorrow night) was really fired up. I’m psyched for tomorrow!

PS. I agree with the earlier post that after Davis dribbled out the entire shot clock at the end of the game, it was really classless for Lilly to run up the court and fire up a three at the buzzer with no one guarding him.

Jon Rothstein says that Coach Jones is hopeful. That's all the insight I've got, I'm afraid.

Guy wants to pad his stats, no big deal.

My uncatchy metaphor for Allocco is caulk, because he fills in wherever there’s a gap. Late in the shot clock? Pull-up midrange jumper. Down by ten late? Pressure up and force turnovers. Team out of offensive rhythm? Push the pace and dish or finish.

From the stat line, Tigers shot 31 FTs, Brown 5.

Eight of those were Brown fouling intentionally late, but still lopsided before that. Don’t know if we weren’t getting calls or Princeton just much more aggressive. But at best it was unbalanced and at worst it was a true snow job.

As the worst FT shooting team in the league though I don’t mind a Brown strategy that doesn’t leverage the foul line.

Princeton generally has a low foul rate, including in away games both in and out of conference. And Brown was encouraging drives to the basket by crowding the three-point line. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the Tigers got two or three extra calls yesterday.
